CSKA athlete Boris Borisov won the silver medal in the up to 62 kg category at the sambo world championship in Sofia. Borisov defeated on the way to the final several hard opponents. In the last fight he expectedly faced a russian representative but failed to win a second title.

CSKA athlete Maria Oryashkova won her fourth world title in the up to 80 kg category at the sambo world championship in Sofa. The Panagyurishte born champion qualified for the final after she defeated athletes from Cuba and the Ukraine. In the final she defeated Svitlana TImashenka from Belarus. The bulgarian fightes won 3 medals during the second day of the tournament - 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Seven CSKA athletes will compete ar the sambo world championship in Sofia. The tournament will be held at the "Arena Armeec" hall. Three women and four men from CSKA will fight for the medal. Galya Ivanvoa (up to 52 kg), Izabel Hristova (up to 60 kg) and Mariya Oryashkova (up to 82 kg), Boris Borisov (up to 62 kg), Stoycho Terziev (up to 82 kg), Genko Ivanov (up to 100 kg) and Ivan Iliev (100+kg) will be the CSKA representatives. The bulgarian sambo federation has a 60 year anniversasy this year.

The CSKA junior judo teams won the championship for both boys and girls in 2016. The girls won the gold in the competition of 11 teams, while the boys had to beat 15 teams from different parts of Bulgaria.

The CSKA judo team won the silver medals in the state team championship for men. The “Army men” remained second and left just the team of NSA before them. 16 teams took part in the tournament.

Ivaylo Ivanov just missed the bronze in Rio

Ivaylo Ivanov lost his decisive match in the judo tournament at the Olympic games in Rio. The Bulgarian lost to Italian Mateo Markonchini with ipon in the category up to 81 kg. The two fightes the longest match in the tournament as no one could gain advantage in the regular 5 minutes. The winner was determined by a “Golden Point” in extra time. 3 min and 17 seconds after the start of extra time Ivanov lost by ipon. Before that the Bulgarian had lost against American representative Travis Stevens. If he had won the clash...
